Understanding Overtime & Night Differential Pay
Under the Philippine Labor Code, employees are entitled to additional compensation for work performed beyond regular hours and during nighttime. These benefits protect workers and ensure fair pay for extended work schedules.
Overtime Pay Rates
- • Normal Day: +25% (first 4 hrs), +30% (beyond)
- • Rest Day: +30% of daily rate
- • Regular Holiday: +30% (or 200% if exceeds 8 hrs)
- • Special Holiday: +30% (or 150% if exceeds 8 hrs)
Night Differential
- • Applies from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- • Additional 10% of hourly rate
- • Applies to ALL hours during night shift
- • Stacks with overtime pay if applicable
Important Notes:
- • Overtime only applies after 8 hours of regular work
- • Night differential applies to all night hours, not just overtime
- • Daily rate = Monthly Salary ÷ 22 working days (standard)
- • Hourly rate = Daily Rate ÷ 8 hours
